Paragliding from Sarangkot
A tandem flight off Sarangkot over Phewa Lake — Pokhara's signature adventure, no experience needed.
About this place
Summary
Tandem paragliding from Sarangkot is Pokhara's signature adventure: you launch off the ridge above the city with an experienced pilot and float down over Phewa Lake, often alongside hawks and eagles, with the Annapurnas on the horizon. No experience is required — the pilot does everything.
Why we picked it
Pokhara is one of the most reliable and beautiful places in the world to fly tandem, and it turns the city's scenery into something you feel rather than just photograph.
Good for
Adventure-seekers, first-time flyers, couples, and anyone wanting Pokhara's biggest thrill with the mountains in view.
Skip if
Skip in poor weather, if you have serious heart or back conditions or are pregnant, or if heights genuinely frighten you.
Editorial guide
What to expect
You are driven up to the Sarangkot take-off, clipped into a tandem harness in front of the pilot, and run a few steps off the ridge. A standard flight lasts about 20–30 minutes and lands near the lakeside; longer cross-country and acrobatic flights cost more.
When to go
Autumn (Sep–Nov) and spring (Mar–May) are the best seasons, with November often the clearest. Mornings are smoothest; later-morning thermals give a livelier, longer flight. It is weather-dependent and routinely rescheduled in cloud or wind — leave a buffer day.
Who it's for
Most healthy adults, no skill needed. Operators set weight and age limits, and it is not advised in pregnancy or with serious heart or back conditions. If you are prone to motion sickness, ask for a gentle, no-acrobatics flight.
Booking & trust note
There is no Nepal-issued paragliding licence — reputable tandem pilots are internationally certified (APPI/FAI and similar). Book through an established operator, check the pilot's certification and that a reserve parachute is carried, and treat any quoted price as confirm-locally: a standard tandem is commonly around USD 70–90 (photos and video usually extra), but it varies by season and operator.
