About this place

Summary

Yomari Punhi is a Newari full-moon festival centered on yomari — steamed rice-flour dumplings filled with chaku (molasses) or khuwa, shaped like a fish. Households make them fresh, offerings are made at shrines like Annapurna's at Ason, and in some neighborhoods four-day-old yomari are ritually eaten as part of Dhan Yatra. It is the valley's most delicious festival to simply walk through.
